Ruff Riders Aquire Key Players and Assign Defensive Coordinator

RUFF RIDERS SIGN OL KYLE WREN & RB RASHON LEWIS

ABILENE NAMES JOHN CLARK DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR

ABILENE, TX. : The Abilene Ruff Riders announced on Friday, March 6, from a press conference at Lytle Land & Cattle Company Restaurant that the organization has acquired OL Kyle Wren and RB Rashon Lewis for the 2009 season. In addition, the Ruff Riders announced that John Clark has been named the Defensive Coordinator.

Kyle Wren (OL) 6’4”, 325 lbs. Lambuth University -

Kyle is from Dallas, TX and played his high school football at Dallas Kimball High. After an outstanding high school career, Wren went to play college football at Lambuth University. Kyle became a standout offensive lineman splitting time between offensive tackle and guard. His contributions at Lambuth University (NAIA) made him a well-respected lineman in the Mid-South Conference. Kyle will compete for a starting position on the Ruff Riders offensive line for this upcoming training camp.

“Kyle is a great athlete and he will be a productive player on the O-line for us this season. I think he will turn some heads once we start camp.” stated Abilene Ruff Riders Head Coach, Gerald Dockery.

Rashon Lewis (RB/KR) 6’1”, 195 lbs. McMurry University -

Lewis will enter training camp at both the running back and kickoff return specialist positions. Lewis had a great career while at McMurry University. As the starting quarterback in 2007, Lewis led the team with 1,843 yards passing and 14 touchdowns. Lewis averaged 184 yards passing a game. His 569 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns were good for second on the team in ‘07. Lewis also led the team in total offense with 2,412 total yards, averaging 241 yards a game. In addition, Lewis ranked fourth on the team in all-purpose yards during the ‘07 season. Lewis was also part of the two-time conference championship track & field program while at McMurry.

“Rashon is an explosive player on offense. He will certainly be an offensive threat in the backfield and on kick returns. He will play a key role for our club this upcoming season.” stated Abilene Ruff Riders Head Coach, Gerald Dockery.

John Clark, Defensive Coordinator -

John Clark returns to the Ruff Riders but this time around as the Defensive Coordinator. Last year, Clark was with the Ruff Riders organization when the team was in Katy. The St. Louis, MO native has 15 years of coaching experience and now he looks to lead the Ruff Riders defense as they prepare for their ‘09 season in the IFL (Indoor Football League). Clark attended Southern University where he played college basketball, however, Clark was a standout football player all throughout high school.

“This is a great opportunity for me. I’m excited about growing with the city of Abilene and the community. I”m proud of being a part of the Abilene Ruff Riders and I can’t wait to get to work.” stated Abilene Ruff Riders Defensive Coordinator, John Clark.

RUFF RIDERS TO HOLD FINAL TRYOUTS

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 28TH FROM McMURRY UNIVERSITY

ABILENE, TX. : The Abilene Ruff Riders will be holding their final set of team tryouts on Saturday, February 28, 2009 from McMurry University in Abilene. McMurry University is located at 14th & Sayles Boulevard. Registration will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the tryouts to begin shortly after at 10:00 a.m. All participants will be required to sign a waiver, complete a registration form and pay a $50 registration fee. The fee must be cash or money orders only. Players are expected to wear proper attire for the event, including cleats and/or turf shoes. Players will be tested in several different categories related to the professional indoor football game. Media representatives are welcomed to attend.

“This will be one of the final major steps this organization is taking in preparing for the season. We had a great turn out for the previous tryouts which showcased good local talent. We are expecting the same for this time around. RUFF RIDERS DANCE TEAM TRYOUTS JUST AROUND THE CORNER, DATE SET FOR JANUARY 24TH

ABILENE, TX. : With the regular season beginning in a few months, the Abilene Ruff Riders will be holding Dance Team auditions on Saturday, January 24th, 2009 from the Lucky Mule Saloon in Abilene. Free food will be provided at 1:00 p.m. with the auditions beginning at 2:00 p.m. Lucky Mule Saloon is located at 1850 South Clack Street and all those that are interested in participating must be 18 years of age or older. Participants must pay a fee of $25 in order to enter the auditions.

Teri Wilkerson of Dance Discovery Studios will be the Ruff Riders Dance Team Choreographer. Dance Discovery Studios will be holding meetings and rehearsals for the auditions beginning Saturday, January 17th, 2009.

RUFF RIDERS RE-SIGN TWO KEY OFFENSIVE WEAPONS FOR 2009, ALSUP AND LORD TO JOIN ABILENE

ABILENE, TX. : The Abilene Ruff Riders announced on Wednesday, January 7th,

2009 that WR/QB Jamaal Lord and RB Carlos Alsup have been signed to the Ruff Riders roster for the ‘09 season. Both Lord and Alsup were recently with the Katy Ruff Riders of the former Intense Football League in 2008, and were two key offensive weapons that helped Katy register a 5-9 regular season record.

Lord and Alsup hold extensive experience from the Division-1A college ranks in football, as well as experience in the indoor football game. Lord and Alsup will bring depth and much success to the running and passing game in Abilene.

Jamaal Lord (WR/QB) 6’4”, 210 lbs. University of Nebraska - Lord is originally from Brooklyn, New York and is a graduate of Bayonne High School. He attended and played his entire college football career at the University of Nebraska. While at Nebraska, Lord received many awards and broke several school records including registering 1,412 yards rushing and

2,774 yards of total offense in 2002. Following Nebraska, Lord spent

2004-2006 in the NFL with the Houston Texans and 2007 with the Indianapolis Colts. In 2008 with the Katy Ruff Riders, Lord led the Intense Football League in total scoring with 164 points. His 79 receptions ranked second among all wide receivers, and he finished tied for second in the IFL (Intense Football League) with 21 touchdown receptions. Lord also registered

356 yards on kick returns and 86 rushing yards with 6 touchdowns.

“Jamaal is a very explosive player and he has the ability to take over games at any point. His athletic ability is going to make him a key component to our offense. With his experience, he will be a great leader to have on not just the offensive side of the ball but special teams as well.” stated Abilene Ruff Riders Head Coach, Gerald Dockery.

Carlos Alsup (RB) 6’2”, 215 lbs. Kansas State University - Carlos is a graduate of Liberal High School in Kansas and he played four years at Kansas State University in a backup role at running back. Following his time at Kansas State, Carlos played two seasons with the Katy Ruff Riders and in 2008 he led the Intense Football League in every single rushing category. He ranked first in rushing yards (469), rushing touchdowns (17), and yards per carry (5.4). Alsup also recorded 12 receptions for 54 yards and two touchdowns for Katy in ‘08.

“Carlos will be a huge factor in our offense this season because of the rule changes. I believe that he is one of the best running backs inside the red-zone, and he has great pass-catching abilities. He knows how to find the end-zone and it’s a great thing to have a back that will get you five yards a carry on a consistent basis. I’m very excited about bringing both of these players to Abilene.” stated Abilene Ruff Riders Head Coach, Gerald Dockery.

CHANGE IN REGULAR SEASON SCHEDULE

ABILENE, TX. : The Abilene Ruff Riders Indoor Football League organization announced during a press conference on Wednesday, December 17th, 2008 from The Zone Grill & Bar, several signed players to the Ruff Riders club for the

2009 season. 16 players were selected from the Abilene Ruff Riders tryouts back on Sunday, December 7, 2008 from Wylie High School in Abilene. The Ruff Riders will begin training camp in early March, as their first game is set for Monday, March 30th in an exhibition match-up with the Odessa Roughnecks.

“I’m excited about the players that we have selected to join the Ruff Riders. I believe we have great local talent on both sides of the ball.

There was a great turnout for the tryouts back on December 7th, and today we have followed that up with another big step in signing, who we felt, were the best prospects. Many of the players that we have signed today have solid experience and they should make an impact on the field this season.” stated Abilene Ruff Riders Head Coach, Gerald Dockery.

Brandon Hatch (DE, 6’6”, 270 lbs.) - Very athletic, can play both sides of the ball and should make an impact early.

Greg Yeldell (DB, 6’0”, 190 lbs.) - Good footwork, experience, knows the game.

Nicholas Pertuit (K, 6’0”, 190 lbs.) - Strong leg, very consistent.

Deshaun Scott (WR, 5’7”, 176 lbs.)

Henry Russell (DB, 5’10”, 205 lbs.) - Tiffen University - Good cover skills, aggressive.

Desmond Sanders (WR, 5’10”, 180 lbs.) - McMurry University Glenn Revell (OL, 6’2”, 270 lbs.) - Hardin Simmons University - Good foot work, strong and quick first step.

Regis Andrez (OL, 6’2”, 305 lbs.) - Abilene Christian University - Had strong workout, versatile player.

Chris Morris (WR, 6’0”, 200 lbs.) - Abilene Christian University - Solid route runner, good hands and very physical.

Michael Young (WR, 5’9”, 190 lbs.)

IFL READY’S FOR 2009 BY RELEASING SCHEDULE

New and Old Rivals to Clash on the Turf Beginning in March

Richmond, VA: The Indoor Football League is proud to announce the inaugural, regular season schedule for 2009. With fierce rivals squaring off in the Northwest, the Mid-West, Texas, and the Northeast, the league will see each team play a 14 game regular season schedule. An impressive number of nineteen teams will be competing in a total of 133 games between March 14th and July 11th with four rounds of playoff to follow in late July and early August. A total of 12 teams will compete in the post-season with the top team in each of the four divisions earning a first round BYE and four wild cards from each of the two conferences joining them. “We are pleased to have the schedule out so early this year giving more time to the teams and fans alike to prepare for what looks to be an incredible inaugural season!”, IFL commissioner Tommy Benizio enthusiastically explained.

ABILENE, TX. : The Abilene Ruff Riders Indoor Football League organization announced on Tuesday, November 11th, 2008 from Chick-fil-A in Abilene, that Gerald Dockery has been named the Head Coach for the 2009 season. Coach Dockery (38) attended Arizona Western College from 1989-1990 where he still holds the record for most yards and touchdowns in a single game at the wide receiver position (245 yards / 4 touchdowns). He graduated from Eastern New Mexico University in 1994 and played at the wide receiver position during the 1991-1992 seasons. He helped the program win the Lone Star Conference championship in ‘91.

“I’m absolutely thrilled to be the Head Coach of the Abilene Ruff Riders. I’m excited to be involved with an Abilene community that has welcomed our professional football organization with open arms. I look forward to getting to work on developing this team for the 2009 season.” stated Head Coach Gerald Dockery.

Following college, Dockery moved on to the higher ranks of professional football, playing for the Calgary Stampeders of the CFL in 1995, an organization that has featured NFL greats such as QB Jeff Garcia, and QB Doug Flutie. Dockery then moved on to the Arena Football League in 1996 as a WR/DB playing for the Houston based franchise, the Texas Terror. He began his coaching career with the Houston Gunners police department football club as the Offensive Coordinator in 2002. In a three year span he led his team to a 24-2 record, including a undefeated campaign in just his second season with the Gunners.

“Gerald is a very successful coach who understands the indoor football game. Dockery began his coaching career with the Katy Ruff Riders, of the former Intense Football League, in their 2007 inaugural season as a Defensive Backs Coach. He moved to Defensive Coordinator after the first game of the season, and led a defense that helped collect 5 straight wins for the team and finish the regular season at 7-7. In 2008, Dockery was named the Head Coach of the Katy Ruff Riders and assumed the role of Assistant General Manager, overseeing football operations. In ‘08 he led Katy to a 5-9 regular season record, including a 4-4 home record. Coach Dockery finds himself living by one simple quote, “I’ll go anywhere, as long as it’s forward.”

The Abilene Ruff Riders additionally announced that tryouts for the 2009 season will take place on Sunday, December 7th, 2008 at 11:00 AM from Wylie High School located at 4502 Antilley Road in Abilene. All Participants will be required to sign a waiver, complete a registration form and pay the $50 registration fee, cash or money orders only. ABILENE RUFF RIDERS TO HOLD PRESS CONFERENCE

REMINDER NOTICE

ABILENE, TX. : The Abilene Ruff Riders professional football organization of the Indoor Football League would like to remind all members of the media of the special press conference to be held on Tuesday, November 11th, 2008. The Ruff Riders are asking all media representatives and all those who plan to attend, to come to Chick-fil-A located at 3130 South Clack Street in Abilene. Food and beverages will be served at 1:30 p.m. with announcements to follow at 2:00 p.m. Owners and staff members of the Abilene Ruff Riders will be on hand for questions and interviews during, and after the press conference. Topics to be covered will be the introduction of the Abilene Ruff Riders new head coach. The press conference will tentatively conclude at 2:30 p.m., and the Abilene Ruff Riders front office staff would like to ask all media personnel to RSVP as soon as possible.

RUFF RIDERS HOLDING FINAL TRYOUTS, SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 28TH
REMINDER NOTICE

ABILENE, TX. : The Abilene Ruff Riders will be holding their final set of team tryouts on Saturday, February 28, 2009 from McMurry University in Abilene. McMurry University is located at 14th & Sayles Boulevard. Registration will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the tryouts to start shortly after at 10:00 a.m. All those that are participating in the tryouts will be required to sign a waiver, complete a registration form, and pay a $50 registration fee. The fee must be cash or money orders only. Players are expected to wear proper attire for the event which includes cleats and/or turf shoes. Players will be tested in several different categories related to the indoor football game. Media representatives are welcomed to attend the tryouts.

Ruff Riders Have Three Victories So Far and Strive For More

KATY, TX - May 21, 2008 - This season, the Ruff Riders had a bumpy start, as they took on the league champions the Louisiana Swashbucklers for three games in a row after a close loss in Frisco on March 9th and a victory in Fairbanks on March 15th. The last few games have proved to be very different; the Ruff Riders have shown great improvement. They beat the San Angelo Stampede Express 42-20, and pulled ahead to beat CenTex 72-63 this past Saturday. This week on Saturday May 24th at 7PM in Katy, the Ruff Riders take on the Frisco Thunder who snuck by in a 66-63 victory over them at the beginning of the season. It should be a great match up as Frisco has a record of 6-4 so far this season, and are ranked third in the league. The Ruff Riders look to improve their 3-5 record and move up in the league standings from their current 7th place position.
